US announces re-exemption of tariffs on 352 Chinese imports including photovoltaic junction boxes
Mar 30, 2022
On the 23rd local time, the Office of the US Trade Representative issued a statement announcing the re-exemption of tariffs on 352 items imported from China. The new regulations will apply to imports from China between October 12, 2021 and December 31, 2022. s product.
Exempted items mainly include industrial components such as pumps and motors, auto parts, chemicals, backpacks, bicycles, vacuum cleaners and other consumer products. Those goods were previously exempt from tariffs imposed by the Trump administration during its trade war with China in 2018 and 2019, but those exemptions have now expired.
Solar products covered in the exempt list include:
Solar water heaters incorporating glass tube collectors, including glass tubes (section i-16)
Junction box assemblies for solar panels (clause iii-145)
Plastic and steel electrical insulators ("wire nuts") (clause iii-146)
It also involves some articles related to the manufacture of photovoltaic products, including: plastic pump parts (Article 13), compressors for motor production (Articles 14, 15), DC/AC motors (Articles 53, 57) , unipolar conductors (section ii-28), artificial/natural graphite (sections iii-28, 29, 30), etc.
The decision is understood to have relatively little impact on the overall tariffs. Since the review was announced last October, the USTR has received more than 2,000 requests from businesses, most of them to cut tariffs but some to keep them in place to protect the United States from lower-cost Chinese imports.
After nearly half a year, the Office of the US Trade Representative issued a statement on the 23rd, confirming the confirmation of 352 of the 549 items of Chinese imports that had previously been re-exempted from tariffs. The office said that the US decision that day was the result of comprehensive public consultation and consultation with relevant US agencies.
